And so another adventure began. 2015 – What’s a better way to start the New Year than with a change of place? A different continent, new friendships and experiences. Three weeks have passed since I hugged my family goodbye in the early morning hours of the New Year.
Those of you who know me better might realise that I’m starting to make this a bit of a habit: leaving home on New Years’ morning. Even if I didn’t get to party into the early morning hours – I’d trade the hangover for the plane tickets any day.
The plane landed in Chicago in the early afternoon, and I made my way to the train station after the first moment of disorientation. Finding the hostel I had booked prior to my departure would have been fairly easy… if I had remembered to print off a map or proper directions. Let’s just say I did a bit of a detour.
It only took me a few days to fall for Chicago in a way I had never anticipated. The people, the architecture, the places, the endless amount of things to do… But that will be a different post so I’ll leave it at that for now.
Six days later we arrived in Charleston. A bunch of international students bursting with excitement, hungry for new experiences. I’ve already collected at least a suitcase full of moments that will eventually turn into memories that I could tell you about right now. Today, I decided to let a few photos speak for themselves though – and me.
